Folklore Museum of Nikiti

Folklore Museum of Nikiti

The museum’s folklore collection has around 1500 artifacts that residents of Nikiti have contributed to Nikitean philologist Mr Dimitrios Dimaras during the last 20 years.

The collection was augmented with fresh contributions and historical papers for the permanent show. Objects, archival material, modern creative photography, oral recollections, and a video documentary are used to emphasize diverse tales about the hamlet and the lives of Nikiti’s residents.

The Nikiti Historical and Folklore Museum is situated in the old settlement’s stone school building.
The school was erected in 1870 and is now a state-protected historical monument.

The museum’s operations are overseen by the nonprofit partnership “Museum of Nikiti Halkidiki.”

The Mayor of Sithonia, Ioannis Tzitzios, made the Historical and Folklore Museum of Nikiti a priority initiative to ensure its incorporation into budgetary plans.
